The perfect Spiritual Retreat location. Tsivouli Park is situated 100m above sea level and enjoys splendid views over the bay and the whole southern part of the island. It covers an area of 14,000m² and has 160 olive trees of which the owners harvest every year.
The village of Lithakia is only 2km from the park. It consists of one main street with a little labyrinth of narrow lanes, just a few shops and a choice of typically Greek tavernas. There is a handful of historic houses and a tiny six centuries old church, to add a bit of character. The beautiful sandy beach is about 3km away (approx 30-40 minute walk through the olive groves). The beaches in this part of the bay are part of the breeding grounds for the Caretta Caretta (Loggerhead) turtle.
Tsivouli Park is a stone-built complex of only seven rooms built in the Byzantine style, around a flower-filled courtyard and fountain. It is family owned and managed and has been approved under the Agro-Tourism plan of the E.U. The park offers peace, quiet and stunning sea views for nature lovers, walkers and those who simply want to relax in a friendly, family environment.
The rooms are clean, romantic and comfortable. Accommodation consists of only 5 twin-bedded rooms, 1 three bedded room with a large private veranda and 1 double bed room with a sitting room on a mezzanine gallery.
Each room has it’s own bathroom, ceiling fan, and small kitchen area with fridge.
Our therapies, teaching and meditations are conducted either in the privacy of your own room, in the courtyard or in the tranquil surrounding grounds amongst the olive groves, overlooking Marathonissi Bay.
Breakfast and lunch are served in the courtyard.
Tsivouli Park is the only farm in Greece which breeds emus, a bird related to the family of Ratites like the ostrich, which has adapted very well to the climate here. Originally only 20 of these birds were imported. At the present there are about 40. They are processed by the owners themselves and they make use of the meat, the skin, the feathers, the oil and the eggs.
There are a number of other animals too, like the donkey, dog, cats, chickens, ducks, geese, quails, turkeys and tortoises.
The Farm Shop
Everything to be found for sale in the small shop has been produced by the owners, working only with traditional methods.
The owners harvest the olives themselves, they do not use any artificial fertilizers, or chemical sprays, they work totally organically, thus the production of high quality, organic olive oil. The olive oil has virgin quality and is pressed under the owners own supervision. Part of this oil they process into handmade soap. A special sort of ‘doppio’ olive is preserved as table olives.
The emu eggs are emptied and the contents used for making pasta, omelettes, scrambled egg and ‘spaetzli’. The empty shells are placed on display as souvenirs, either natural or hand decorated.
The Australian Aborigines were the first people to find out about the great healing properties of the oil obtained from the emu. They have used it for thousands of years as a valued remedy to keep their muscles and joints supple and to protect their skin from the harsh Australian sun.
